Awarding the HAS label to a clinical practice guideline developed by a professional body
The HAS is setting up a method for labeling a clinical guideline elaborated by a professional organization.
Context
In view of the rapid evolution of scientific knowledge, and in order to guarantee access to quality care, it is essential to increase the production of clinical practice guideline and ensure that they are kept up to date.
This can only be achieved by involving professional bodies more closely in the development of these guidelines, and by developing collaboration between the HAS and these professional bodies.
The label awarded by the HAS to a clinical practice guideline (CPG) guarantees the scientific quality and compliance of the document with the HAS's methodological and ethical rules, particularly with regard to the prevention of conflicts of interest.
This labeling of recommendations is validated by a decision of the HAS College, on both the substance of the recommendation and the method used to draw it up.
The labeling process
This methodological guide sets out all the methodological, scientific and ethical elements that make up the specifications to be met before the HAS College can award its label to a clinical guideline drawn up by a professional organization.
Verification of the conformity and quality of the clinical practice guideline is carried out prospectively, throughout its development. At each stage, the HAS may propose corrective action.
The HAS label is awarded by a decision of the Collège de la HAS, after consultation with the Health Care Management Committee.
This clinical practice guideline has the same value as a HAS clinical practice guideline. It is published on the HAS website.
